REU
HUMANITARIAN, STAINLESS, INNOVATIVE
REU (Re-deployable Emergency Unit) was designed to respond to an international tender by a major global humanitarian aid organization. The request was both simple and challenging: to design a 13 sqm module equipped with air conditioning, electrical systems, windows, and everything necessary to ensure full functionality. It needed to be transportable in 20’ container boxes, trucks, or even small vehicles such as pick-ups. Additionally, it had to be maneuverable using standard manual trans-pallets or small forklifts and, in emergency situations, entirely by hand.
The module had to withstand outdoor storage for up to five years without corrosion or material degradation. Another key requirement was that it could be manually assembled without any tools not included in the package, within a maximum of four hours, and with the help of four unskilled individuals.
The structure is entirely made of aluminum, while the flooring consists of rot-proof and antibacterial polyethylene profiles. Each component is easy to handle manually and designed to connect on every side using dedicated coupling kits. The assembly does not require central pillars or the use of silicone, ensuring simplicity and speed of setup.
Edilsider won this tender three consecutive times, outperforming competitors from around the globe. The victory was achieved by fully – and in some cases exceeding – all the parameters outlined in the specifications.
This module represents excellence in the field of humanitarian emergencies, designed without compromise and perfected through the real-world experience of over 30,000 units produced and used in 15 years across the globe.
